An invitation, as Rubén sees it

Fina met Rubén at intake in the Welcome Center last week and asks whether he would like to be in Midspan Students. The invitation reaches him alone, and no mentor learns it was sent. What it’s for: Ellery Coast students who are the first in their families to go to college, 18 or older, who would like a mentor. A coordinator meets each student at intake before inviting them, and only the coordinators can read this list. A coordinator proposes one mentor at a time, with reasons. The student is asked first. Leave any time, and nothing follows you.

How she knows you: You met at intake in the Welcome Center last week. If you say yes, her vouch is written beside your name in this list, and nowhere else.
Who can see it: Only Fina and Desmond. The list is invite-only: it is in no directory, no registry and no discovery file, and its file is served only behind the college sign-in. No mentor browses it, and no app reads it.
Introductions: Only a coordinator proposes, one mentor at a time, with reasons. You are asked first; a mentor hears about you only after you say yes.
Messages: Nobody can write to you first.
Leaving: One button, any time. It takes effect within sixty seconds, and nothing follows you.
Who it’s for: Ellery Coast students, 18 or older, who are the first in their families to go to college.
What it costs: Nothing. Nobody pays to be listed or introduced.

It reaches Rubén alone

This invitation went to the address on Rubén’s own page and to nobody else. No mentor is told it was sent, and nobody in the list is either. If he says no, or lets it lapse, the students’ file never mentions him.

Email verified Rubén’s own identity. If he says yes, his entry in this list reads “Vouched for by the curator”.

Still his: his page, his email, any mentor he was already introduced to, and his place in any other Pool.

Never touched: his grades, his financial aid and his enrollment. Midspan never had them.
